Schedule

Spring is almost here, so it's time to talk about which shows I'll be covering on my YouTube channel. The schedule listed above shows each show, what day of the week it airs on, and when it's starting. Below, let's chat a bit about what I've picked, why it's here, and what my thoughts are going in.

Monday

Re:Monster
Genres: Isekai / Fantasy / Adventure
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: April 1st
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: Yes
Why I Picked It: I love Isekai stories that focus on a character being reincarnated and then having a big societal impact on the place where they are reborn. I also like stories about people being reincarnated into monsters or other morally questionable forms. Re:Monster looks like it's going to offer me both of these in spades, and has a cool art style to boot. This is one I'm hoping Kazary will watch with me along with KonoSuba and The Misfit of Demon King Academy.

Tuesday

Unnamed Memory
Genres: Fantasy, Romance
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: April 9th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: No.
Why I Picked It: I love stories that are based on myths, fables and fairytales and this looks like something that could've come straight out of a storybook. I also like romances that have an interesting outside force causing mischief for the characters, so the fact that Oscar is under this kinda curse is totally my kinda jam. It will be interesting to see how much of the resistance here is the curse, and how much comes directly from the characters themselves.

Wednesday

KonoSuba (season 3)
Genres: Isekai, Fantasy, Comedy
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: April 10th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub? Yes.
Why I Picked It: One of the funniest anime ever is back for its third season. The main cast of KonoSuba exemplify something I love about fiction: the characters I love to watch don't need to be a darn thing like the people I'd want to associate with in real life. Fantasy's most fuacked up party is back and I'm ready (along with Kazary) to laugh my ass off.

Thursday

An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride
Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: April 4th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: Yes
Why I Picked It: This is my top pick for new anime of the season. I love the idea of this guy that people seem terrified of being terrified of screwing up his interactions with the girl he likes. The fact that he managed to 'buy' the girl he likes just shows how messed up his logic about all of this is. This one promises to start off awkward and hilarious. The question will be whether it will be able to become heartfelt and worthwhile from there. We shall see.

A Condition Called Love
Genres: Contemporary, Romance
Demographic: Shoujo / Josei
Start Date: April 4th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: Yes
Why I Picked It: So many people reject others who express romantic interest in them without a second glance. What would happen if someone decided hey, I'll give this a go instead? The main character in this show is clueless about love, and rightfully rejects the male lead when he asks her out the day after he gets dumped. But when he hangs around and seems like a good guy, she decides to give him a chance. That's the kinda optimism I can get behind.

Friday

The Misfit of Demon King Academy (season 2, pt 2)
Genres: Fantasy, Action
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: April 12th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: No. (For now?)
Why I Picked It: I've been catching up on a bunch of longer running anime this March, and of those I've watched this is by far my favorite. So of course I want to cover its new episodes. So much so that I'm scheduling it despite the fact that it airs on a Friday and I really didn't want something else releasing the same day as my "The Week That Was" videos. Enough said.
Saturday

I'm taking a Kat Nap from blogging or uploading videos. Everyone needs a day off. 👍

Sunday

Vampire Dormitory
Genres: Romance, Supernatural
Demographic: Shoujo / Josei
Start Date: April 7th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: Yes
Why I Picked It: Long before I got into anime to the point where I wanted to run a blog about it, I was a book blogger and one of my specializations for that was paranormal romance. So when I saw the trailer for this, I was instantly intrigued. Shoujo, romance, and vampires? Sign me up. I'm not cruel enough to try and get Arogrim or Kazary to watch this, but you can bet I'm eager to devour every second of it.

Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc
Genres: Fantasy, adventure, action
Demographic: Shounen / Seinen
Start Date: May 12th
Platform: CrunchyRoll
Getting a Dub?: Yes (very likely, will change if needed)
Why I Picked It?: This is probably the most no-brainer choice on my entire list. I've been following Demon Slayer for quite a while now, so of course I'm eager to watch the new season. Alas, I don't think I'm going to get more Douma here. He's my favorite. But it will still be fun to see what Tanjiro and the others are up to.
